    Flying Legends - this weekend!

    Hey everyone,

Just curious - is anyone at Flying Legends Airshow at Duxford this weekend?

I'm around Sunday if anyone is there for a chat.

    Jake.

PS - I'll delete this on Monday given it'll be of no use to anybody! Cheers.

I'm well thanks, just a word of warning they have steped up security from last year and are searching all bags, we got there for just before 8.30am and queued for 40 mins, if you don't have a bag you can walk straight through.

    Enjoy your day tomorrow!

I'm arriving by air so won't have a bag, but thanks for the heads up. I've always enjoyed the firm yet relaxed security at Duxford, alas no more! A sign of the times..

    Flying Legends - this weekend!

    Right, here's my little update..

Upon landing (a little late!), we made our way to the Bremont/The Fighter Collection hospitality - here are some pictures.

Looking back at the crowd from airside, a view only a lucky few get to see.

Whilst walking to the tent along the flight line, we spotted Nick taxiing in in the Bremont 'Bus' - he did wave!

Here are the passes to get in to the show and hospitality, two vintage inspired dog tags. Pretty cool!

Guarding the entrance was this rather Ferrari: a 1960 250 GT SWB/C. As cars go, this one was rather expensive - north of $10m apparently!

Here's the view that greeted us upon getting in to the marquee. Not many places in the world where you can get this close to a P-51D. This particular one was flown over from the States to be one of the stars of the show, having only been restored recently.

Having milled around and looked at a few aeroplanes, it was lunch time. Bremont had their own table, so we took our seats. It was almost too nice to be sat inside!

Now for a few plane pictures. I won't bore you all with geeky captions for these..

Also sat outside was an aeroplane you'll all be familiar with - The DH88!

The final 'Balbo' flypast - a hugely impressive sight!

One of the other aeroplanes in the show, a P-51D called 'Miss Velma' had a prang at the end of the show. The pilot got out OK, and I'm sure the aircraft will be restored to flight again.

And here it is just a few minutes later, credit to the original photographer.

Finally, does anybody else think this is an odd place for an umbrella!?

Thanks for looking everybody, any questions just ask. I have more warbird pictures if anyone would like to see them. And also a quick thanks to Bremont for having me along.

Was there on Saturday - great event but too damn hot!

Sad to see Miss Velma's prang - still the P-51 is a tough old bird. I'm sure she'll make a full recovery.

Stopped by the Bremont stand for a quick look around. Got complemented on my MBII - didn't get a drink out of them though!

The walk along the flight line was great - all the aircraft were beautifully presented. Particularly pleased to see the Blenheim on display and in flight - looked fantastic with the Bremont logo on the nose.

Was a great show - not my first Flying Legends and it certainly won't be my last.

This was my 12th or something. The sight and sound of vintage warbirds is never something to tire of!

Glad you enjoyed it, and that you popped to see the Bremont gang. Shame you didn't get a drink, though..
