Service intervals

Anyone got information on Bremont recommended service intervals for their watches, I can't find anything on the Bremont website.

Hi Stephen, nothing is written in stone, some watches go decades without any attention! As for Bremont watches I would have thought every five years is not unreasonable - what do others think?

Thanks Gavin, five years was my "guestimate" but I wondered if Bremont issued their own guidelines given that the watches feature a "heavily modified" movement.

I have always believed if it ain't broke don't fix it! I have had some watches go 15 years before they stopped all of a sudden and then some watches that after a few years needed to be regulated because they started slowing down to the point I couldn't stand it! My oldest Bremont is going on 4 years old and I have abused her quite a bit and she is running 10 seconds slow a day. So I am going to send her in for a oil and lube, plus a cosmetic make over! Everyone uses and abuses their watches differently so for that reason I would wear your watch until it starts acting up then send it in! I have never serviced a watch that was working normal and I didn't need a cosmetic rehab! Cheers Jim

I shouldn't think that'd make too much difference, given that the 'base' movement is still ETA, and they recommend 3-5 years.
I'd agree with Gavin, in that 5 years is a reasonable service period, but obviously if it starts losing time, ship it off to get serviced.

I have never had to service any of my Bremonts yet but the time for that has come.... my Alt1-C is about 5 yrs old and is due for a service. Not keeping a good charge and losing time. I just need to get down to the local AD one of these days!

Seven years is reasonable at my rate of wear. If it requires service at a shorter interval (5 or less years) then it's not a movement/watch that I'll keep for long. My oldest Bremont is 5 years and still inside of COSC spec so all is good.

Any watch at no longer than 10 years I will service regardless of wear.

I would recommend every five years depending if you wear it all the time or lays "dormant" for any length of time.

Rolex have upped their recommended service intervals to seven years for the newest watches, although specialist divers watches should be serviced, have seals and Helium Escape Valves checked more frequently if worn for purpose and older watches are best done every 4-5 years.

My ALT1-P was serviced after 5 years wear alternating with my C, which I will get serviced this year. Don't forget that Bremont replace the front bezel if it is scratched or marked as part of the service included in the charge (you get the original returned in case it has sentimental attachment!)

But, like Gavin I am also an advocate of the "if it ain't broke....." method if you are happy with the way the watch is running and you don't deliberately get it wet. It just might cost more when you do have it resurrected!
