Bremont canvas straps by Carl 'GasGasBones' Evans

I recently took some quick snaps of my collection of GasGasBones Straps. I did these for Carl as a favour as he wanted some for promotional purposes. The straps included here are: Black with Orange Stitch (comes with MBII orange) Black with white (MBII Anthracite) Sand (bought from ATG) Green (for sale soon on Bremont's eBoutique and a prototype orange (Probably never for sale!)..

More information and an interview with Carl can be found here on Hodinkee

Thanks...They aren't normally as colourful as that...I erm put them through Photoshop to make the colours pop a bit, but still awesome in real life!

Going for the Anthracite mate, the green will go quite well with the ancient hunting Gordon kilt I have!

I've never had a watch with such a strap, so I'm wondering how comfortable this strap may be, especially in hot weather? Is it comparable to any other strap, leather or rubber? Or the nylon makes it less comfortable when it's sweating hot out there?

And what my wife asked when I showed her the velctro strap may also be considered an interesting question: how durable is the velcro? She said in the late '80s when velcro training shoes were "in", she had a lot of issues with early aging velcro endings on her shoes. What I replied her, based on my assumptions: it may well last as long as a leather strap does, so 2-3 years as I'm guessing. But maybe others already own one longer than that and may provide some insights?

Also, is there any info on when Bremont start to sell short velcro straps for the U2? Apparently they only have regular sized straps of the "black on black" and the sand strap right now.

    hi tamas.

Okay the straps are really comfortable - you don't really know you're wearing them as the nylon is quite thin ( but thicker than a regular nato ).

These straps 'do' fit on a 6.5 inch wrist but there is a certain amount of overlap. There has been a few 'short' ones knocking around - or what I would suggest: get a local 'sewing' service to alter the straps - you'd need to take approx 1.5 - 2cm off the end to make it work. However this has been raised by a few people on the forums and Bremont ARE aware that they probably need to create some shorter versions? I'll add this question as a poll on the site and send the results to Bremont!

p.s the image above this post showing the mb1.5 on green is an example of a standard canvas strap 'overlapping' if Simon's wrist was big enough you'd see the leather triangle bit)

( To answer your other questions - yes they are good in the heat - and yes I think they are strong the velco can get a bit 'fluffy' but my sand one still strong after nearly a year ...but they are only £55 straps -- when one goes I'd look at getting another!)
