    Meet the Bremont Team!

    We have decided to set up a new thread on the forum where users can get a chance to meet members of the team;

Following on from their brief interview, feel free to ask questions to the individual team member and I will make sure responses are posted here.

    This week I have been speaking to Emma Smith who is head of Bremont customer services. She is responsible for answering many Bremont queries, and is known by a lot of our members already;

ALT1- S So Emma, what does your role entail?

ES - I work as head of the customer services department and oversee all questions that come in to Bremont, as well as dealing with all the watches coming in to the service centre. I am responsible for managing the limited edition distribution and working with our retailers to ensure they have they are happy.

ALT1-S Which Bremont do you wear?

ES The ALT1-C/SI with a Nubuck Strap

ALT1-S Which is your favourite Bremont and why?

ES The P-51, I love the styling of the watch, the history and the incredible detail. I often think I would like to wear one back to front to show off the rotor.

ALT1-S What is your favourite part of your job?

ES It has to be the people I work with, there is a great atmosphere at Bremont HQ and it has a really buzzy feel to it. I love being part of such an exciting brand, and working in such a positive environment.

ALT1-S And what do you think it is about Bremont that makes it so special?

ES I think the story behind the brand, and the fact that Nick and Giles are so accessible. They really have such enormous passion, and that truly goes in to every single watch model - each one has its own story and I love that.

ALT1-S What are you most excited about for 2014 at Bremont?

ES Definitely the potential of more international boutiques.

ALT1-S Working in Customer Services, what do you get asked the most?

ES I get asked all the time if we can make cosmetic alterations to customers watches - for example orange barrels on U2s, different hands on watches etc. This is really frustrating, of course we would love to be able to, but it is just not possible!

ALT1-S So is there anything you dislike about your job?

ES I dislike the fact that I can't build watches! I love watching the team produce them, and wish I could do it myself.

Thanks Emma, and now a little trivia...

    Favourite Film?

ES hmmm... Usual Suspects or Monsters Inc!

    Favourite Book?

ES Currently 'The 100 year old Man who climbed out of the window and disappeared.'

    Favourite food?

ES Steak and Oysters ( but not necessarily together! )

    Bravo!

While my Bremonts have been in for work, Emma has been nothing short of professional, kind and timely in our emails!

    Emma flat out rocks!

If I'd start my own watch company, Emma is the first person I'd steal from Bremont!!!

How cool was that? Great idea, Serena!

I have one question for Emma: do you read any watch related websites or publications and if so, which ones do you enjoy? Thanks!

ES - To be honest, I don't have much time ( except for Alt1tude of course! ) We are lucky enough to have a lot of watch publications in the office so I try and dip in and out of them whenever I can, but because of the nature of the business we tend to chat a lot in house about what is going on in the industry. I also have such a wealth of knowledge from the watchmakers and the rest of the team that I get lots of information from them. Thanks for the question!

Continuing on with our 'meet the team' post, I spoke to Head Watchmaker Stuart Duff about his work at Bremont, and what made him get in to watchmaking. Stuart is a major part of the Bremont team, so please feel free to post questions to him!

    So Stuart, what does your role entail;

Basically, I oversee all the watchmakers and work that goes in and out of the Bremont watchmaking facility. I am very fortunate to work closely with Nick and Giles on some of the development side of the business and am also responsible for looking at the repairs and servicing work that comes in.

How did you get in to watchmaking?

I was actually meant to enter the Royal Marines, but a biking accident meant I had a recurring shoulder injury and couldn't join. I saw an advert for an apprentice job and took it, the rest, as they say is history! Since then I have worked for Swatch Group, Richemont, Aurum, and Swico.

    Which Bremont do you wear

    I wear a U2/SS on a vintage strap.

Which is your favourite Bremont and Why?

The P-51. It is just so unique and of course the attention to detail is unlike any other watch I have seen. It is a modern watch, with a vintage look, the colour of the lume, the dial everything - I really cant fault it.

What is your favourite part of your job?

It sounds cheesy, but the people - everyone at Bremont really believes in what they are doing and works so hard as a team. I also feel very lucky to be part of a company that is doing so well.

What is it about Bremont that makes it so special?

The fact that they are doing everything they can to bring watchmaking back to the UK and that eventually all parts of Bremont will be made in this country.

What are you most excited about for 2014 at Bremont?

Where do I start?! There are some exciting developments happening at Bremont, not all of which I can speak about!

What in your job do you get asked the most?

'Who are they!?' When I say I am a watchaker and I work for Bremont a lot of people say they haven't heard of us, but once they know they see us everywhere. Its brilliant.

Is there anything you dislike about your job?

Its hard work, so the hours can be long, and I live quite far away from HQ.

    Favourite Film

    Snatch

    Favourite Book?

    Fantastic Mr Fox

    Favourite Food?

    Chinese food.

Thanks Stuart, I am sure there will be lots of questions from our members.

Good to see Stuart in sepia - doesn't he look like Orlando Bloom though? Shame someone photobombed his big moment!!

My question for Stuart is …. with the new developments at Bremont, where do you see the brand in 12 months time?

SD - In bigger premises?! It's hard to pinpoint it really. I think there will be a lot of growth in the next 12 months on the watchmaking side. The Boeing partnership is very exciting and of course the aim is to get more and more production in the UK. It's great for me to be able to work with young talent so I hope 2014 will really see Bremont becoming ambassadors for British watchmaking.
