I agree that it did go completely under the radar. I'd only been a Bremont fan for about a year when it was launched and I saw it in the Bremont Briefing that was released at that time. It was one of those watches that when I saw it, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Most of the Americas Cup watches have had a fairly subdued release but that one in particular barely even gets a mention.
I like NATO's but it really depends on the watch. Couldn't see myself putting a NATO on an ALT1-C but it looks really good on the SE301. I think the 1918 LE came with a NATO strap as part of the set, not sure I've ever seen anyone use it though - that would be very different.
