Well, the much hyped Apple watch has finally been launched! Will it be of any use? Will David stock them in his shop? Who amongst us will be the first to admit owning one? So many questions, so few answers!

With the top of the range model - the 'Editon' being 8k, I suspect many of us here will choose Bremont over Apple!

If I were to buy one, it would be the black apple watch sport with black strap, which I suspect will become the most popular version due to its simple color and cheapest price. I'm interested to compare the two sizes on the wrist, but I'd probably go 42mm.

That being said, I don't antixipate buying one at this point. I enjoy my "real" watches too much and don't think I'd use it enough! I'm anxious to follow along as it becomes more widely adopted and software improves for it! The iPhone has changed so much since it was first released, I can only imagine the watch will too!

The edition version is just bonkers, designed for people who have more money than sense.

I don't think it will be for us, Gavin :D

What I am thinking of selling, though is a hat-mounted solar powered charger to extend the battery life.

We do have an Apple store in Nantwich - it's the fruit and veg shop down Pepper Street…..

Agreed. I am admittedly a Apple fan boy with my iPhones, Macs, etc but I dont think I will get the watch. I like my real watches too much also. I also agree that the cheaper sport watch will be the only big seller. I cant see many folks wanting to drop 10K on a gold apple watch.

I am with most of you guys here. Don't think an apple watch can replace my WT.... YET... Technology is moving so fast, that i wonder if in the future the apple watch (or any smart watch) wont be a necessity. I mean, I honestly felt the exact same way when the iPhone came out (my little Nokia was more than enough for me!) and now the idea of leaving home without my iPhone scares me. Not sure I'll be buying the first generation of this watch, but i'm pretty sure by the time we get to apple watch 3, it'll be very tempting indeed.

I'm the same, I have an iPhone, Mac, iPad, but I think the watch is too different for me.

No doubt the Apple sheeple will buy one because it is an Apple device regardless of what it can do or how good it is. Personally I want a watch that can tell me the time and date and will last many years and not be "old news" next week. I don't need my watch to do anything else and certainly not to be a mini computer with a screen so small and that will probably be impossible to read in sunlight. More Apple hype in my view.

As you can guess I am not an Apple fan.

I might just get it at some point in the future for gym purposes, but no way will it ever replace a proper mechanical watch ;)

The edition version is just bonkers, designed for people who have more money than sense. The most expensive ones in gold could get me 3 Bremonts or a nice alt1-C/RG that would probably last more than a generation.

They're expecting to sell 20 million of them, and when Apple updates to the next generation, they'll sell another 20 million, etc, etc.

Meanwhile, my Globemaster will have stayed up to date with simple strap changes :-)

I met with Breitling at Baselworld on Saturday to look at their new B55 'Connected' watch. They say it'll be guaranteed software/hardware updates for 15 years after you buy the watch, including any new features they add to the watch. I wonder if Apple will do similar?

That looks just too cheap.

I do like the Apple version, but agree - there will be a new version every 6 to 12 months.

Plus, the battery life is a joke.

Pre-orders started today on the Apple Watch! Anyone decide to get one? I'll be taking a pass, at least for a few generations, but am anxious to see how well they are adopted.

No plans here, at least for a few generations. I feel there will be too many glitches in this first generation. Happy to be proved wrong, though!

Welp, today is the day! I don't have one arriving on my doorstep, but does anyone else? I'll admit that I've already watched a few unboxing videos though!

A friend of mine is receiving one today, hopefully. I will have to 'borrow' it off him sometime soon and see what they're like.

The only thing I don't like is I wish there was a more then just one language setting like on my phone I can speak in German and it writes it! On the watch I can't do that so when my family from Germany texts me I have to go on my phone!!
