View Full Version : ** Bremont SE - Last remaining watches **

I've had a couple more people drop out overnight now that I'm collecting order forms off people - So have contacted people who are interested.
Once I have heard back I will reopen the registration system again. It is likely that this may be switched on and off over the next week depending on who confirms and not.
To make this easier, all I can say is:
- Don't register unless you intend to fully go through with buying the watch (Payment will be taken week commencing 11th March)
- Don't PM me requesting serial numbers or asking to swap. All of the low serial numbers have gone for the moment and most of those have been confirmed.
** Anyone who hasn't confirmed their order by 11th March will loose their reservation! - so don't delay and get those forms back in **
Thank you all!

Just out of curiosity Piers, what is the ratio of DLC - SS at the minute, still 20-10 or has that changed?

its more dlc actually - I can let you know the figures tomorrow but its about 23 dlc to 7 SS

I think the SS is the better looking however I have chosen DLC to standout in my collection.
SS for me as I already have a dlc supermarine :-)

The Supermarine bracelet ends are different than for the rest of the models. Unless you switched out those end pieces to fix to the lugs, it won't fit.

Shame, I think the DLC SE would look excellent on the DLC bracelet!

I think it is a pity for those that intially thought they may have had the funds available and now haven't. I expect when these watches are produced and we start posting the photos of the watches on adventures, people may regret not finding the money. Afterall there will only ever be 30. As this website grows along with the Bremont brand the more attractive these watches will be :)

It's no worry. The registration system is automatic, So I just need to reset it - and was expecting some to drop out anyway.

From the list:
20 have confirmed and are due to go into production
4 need to finalise their order forms, but have communicated with me and are good
3 have dropped out
and 3 have not communicated at all. If these people don't communicate with me at all by Monday 11th March they will loose their reservation :(

Maybe some people had very good reasons and decided to drop out sooner rather than later to give other people a chance. Perhaps they would still love to have one of these but decided that due to an unforseen change in circumstances decided that the sensible option was to pull out as feeding the kids was more important. Sorry rant over, nothing personal, just sometimes its not always black and white!
I don't blame anyone for dropping out. The reservation system allows people to reserve a watch for a period of time with no commitment on having to pay for it. The next stage (collecting the order sheets for Bremont) is when people need to commit as the stage after that is a phone call from Bremont requesting money!
I think the whole reservation system was a fair and (on me) easy system to manage and I always expected there to be some drop out... so really no hard feelings if people can't see it through! and lets face it... most of us already have one bremont at least already!

Urufu, who rattled your cage? If you are referring to my post expressing sympathy for Piers to the extent that anyone had reserved a watch and then not followed through, some not having even replied to his follow up, then what would you call that sort of behaviour? Meets my definition of messing someone about. Luckily, it has not caused Piers too much of a problem - good. If you have different view, please go ahead and express it by all means, but it might be more compelling and in keeping with the nature of the forum if you avoided pointless abuse.

What is it this week, everyone on PMT!
Seems you haven't read the thread through properly (The Posts that I believe caused the hassle have since vanished) however I doubt your post was the one Jon initially referred too that Utufu acknowledged.
However on the whole i find this internet abuse quite irritating and I have started to consider retracting my order of the watch. I don't think I want a watch that symbolises arrogance and I am fairly positive that Piers hasn't arranged for this watch to cause any friction within the Alt1tude community.
Lets just put things in order and stop all these fractious messages.
Alt1tude

Yes guys, please don't argue over this! [ It's only a watch ;) ]
As I said before, it's usual for this to happen - especially if no payment is made.
However a couple of people drop out, a couple more register... so no loss!
However there are still 3 people who registered last Friday who haven't communicated with me on this... so unless I receive some form of communication in the next 24 hours I will remove their registrations to allow more people the opportunity to buy the watch... What's more important to me is the watch is available to people who want to buy it rather than holding for people who aren't communicating!

You're 100% correct Andy...Flying B got completely the wrong end of the stick....:) My comments referred to others taking a stance on here (since deleted) on the circumstances of others that they do not know nor know nothing about...I am delighted the watch has sold so well so quickly, will be sorting my preferences with Piers in a few mins, and that's my business with him. If others haven't been able to follow through, or been unable to communicate why just yet, then that's their business and I wouldn't comment on that!!!

If I was working I'd say yes, as it is a lovely idea. Maybe Bremont could give him a very special deal and let One go at cost, after all 29 watches going at full price is some good hard in coming cash for them :)

Not at all.
Out of the 25, 20 have paid and we're still waiting for those final 5.
I suspect the first 20 will be done first then the last 10 done later - it reallly depends on when the money is collected if paid in time then i suspect 25 will be done in one batch.
The watches will only be sold via the forum but i guess the boutique may carry a prototype, nbut again ordering done via here.
so no hold ups for the people that have paid that is!

That would have been the easier to manage option and most probably the fairer way on us wanting to get the number we wanted. I was fortunate to be online when reservations just became available, by time I clicked on there was no number under 5 available, but I got the number I wanted so was happy.
Take lessons learnt onto when you arrange another SE (mmm 10th Anniversary .) )

Hi Jeff
All I have had from Bremont is that it's due for 'Summer' release... So I would suspect June / July as a guess.
Once they're all back from presenting new watches I'll try and get a more accurate update as they are no doubt going to be mega busy with the Basel party and impending LE launch.

Not quite
I need to do another check up. I think there's 3 / 4 left
Once these get built / photographed and worn I wonder how many people will rush get the final ones...
We were originally going to produce more of these, but I think 30 was the right number!
Andyg156
04-24-2013, 02:27 PM
30 seems the perfect number, enough to be be virtually all sold prior to being made and enough to feel as we have something limited. I am looking to have another Bremont which I can take on adventures and post some photos.
I am fairly positive that as your site gains further subscribers inline with the growth of Bremont these will be a much sort after watch (especially with the dial currently being unique in design)
An invite to the code breaker launch party would be a nice add on for us altitude purchasers.... :-D

I am excited about this limited edition watch. If I am understanding things correctly, Bremont is waiting for all 30 to be claimed before beginning production?
A more vague kind of question that just occurred to me: in the Bremont catalogue, they seem to show all their watches, even limited edition ones that are sold out (and are marked sold out in the catalogue). I am wondering what the status of this SE will be for Bremont. In other words, will this SE become part of Bremont's publicly (website, catalogue, etc) presented collection?
Thanks

Charles,
I'll attempt to answer this one as best as I can. This SE is a Forum Special Edition to recognize and embrace the loyal Bremont enthusiasts who participate in this particular Bremont forum. It's design was based off of suggestions from forum members, along with Bremont, who helped to put together a watch consistent with their design standards. You won't see it published in a Bremont catalog or on the Bremont website, as its sort of a low-key, celebration piece in low numbers. There has been one other forum watch to date, the MB 1.5 from the ATG Bremont Forum, which was 20 pieces, I believe. I will say there is another ATG SE in development, the S2 SE, but that project seems to have hit a stall.
There have been 10 Selfridges MBII's and 30 TWG MBII's, as well as 2 made for Fly Navy Heritage Trust in blue barrel. These are all special, low production pieces, none of which were highlighted in any Bremont literature.
This watch, and the above mentioned are not the Limited Edition pieces which you are referencing from Bremonts website ( EP120, P51, Victory, U2 LE, Codebreaker, etc). There are all sorts of other special editions, mainly for military squadrons, but also the MW ALT1-P, Leander, and Ecurie Ecosse. The ALT1TUDE SE will be more similar in production and publication to those pieces.
Hope that helps.
Jeremy

Hi Charles,
Bremont will not wait for the 30 watches to be claimed. They will make all of them. I think I read somewhere that they will make two runs. If the last watch is not sold by the time they start production, that watch will be built and then just sit at Bremont waiting for one lucky folk to claim it.
When I had the chance to buy my MB2 Selfridges edition, it was there waiting at Selfridges unclaimed. It will be the same with this one.
Alt1tude

Hi Charles I have replied to your email concerning this but I think the guys above have pretty much answered the questions.
From my perspective- the watch has been sold direct to customer from Bremont and has only been retailed via this forum no other store or outlet.
With this in mind communication about the watch will only be restricted to ALT1TUDE (From Bremont's perspective) and there is a very good reason for this; Bremont needs to serve it's retail network and 'consumer' releases as a priority whereas this is a small project / limited run. You can only imagine the frustration if Bremont communicated a limited edition that was only available exclusively from one place (here) and was also sold out... This would be misleading to consumers and frustrating to retailers.
The military projects are worked in the same way; they are not communicated about however the military angle gives kudos to the brand and often spawns consumer versions such as the B2 and World Timer.
In my mind, Bremont will make as many watches as have paid for / ordered in the first batch then the remaining watches will be made when the last batch is produced (This may actually only be 2-3 remaining watches). I can assure you though, that given the design is totally unique, the use of the military mascot this edition is likely to be a 'must have' to collectors in a few years time!

Well if the rarity and desirability is anywhere close to the Breitling-Felix and Rolex-Felix SE, it will be indeed a very collectable watch! :D
And as I plan to never ever sell mine, that's one less that could its way on the used market. ;)
Final thought, I chased a MB1.5 SE from ATG for a while, when one finally showed up, it was not in pristine condition at all, but the seller could quickly sell it for a very nice price.

Hello, first post here. Having been utterly disappointed by this years offerings at SIHH and Basel, I was researching (no offense I hope) lesser known brands and came upon Bremont. Looked at every offering on their site and saw nothing other than the Victory that appealed to me, but it is ridiculously expensive IMO (but what a great dial lay out). Googling 'Bremont,' I found you guys and this sub-forum and your SE. What a brilliant design! The anthracite dial will be a welcome addition to my collection, should pair well with the anthracite barrel and helps the black hands stand out more than if on a black dial. The dial design is so very clean and uncluttered with only the two words, the stick indices and that great Felix graphic. The yellow and red are used in perfect quantity IMO. Frankly, the only thing I'd have changed would have been to use the fully-lumed hour hand as on the Solo. Reading the orginal thread from Jan where you all offered numerous and sometimes conflicting suggestions, I'm surprised that this resulted, but for me, it's better than any of their current offerings, so hearty congratulations are in order. Speaking of order, I reserved mine yesterday, and like some of you, look forward to photos and updates.

Welcome!
I believe I still need to email you the confirmation form for this, but the comment is really complimentary and I'm glad you've found Bremont and this forum!
Have fun and when I have some more information / pictures etc of these watches you'll all be the first to know!!

Thanks! I'm getting the SS with grey strap. Frankly, I think it would look better with their dark brown strap and I'm hoping I can convince them to swap it out so I don't have to pay extra for the brown one and just have the grey take up space in my parts drawer. Since I intend to use it as a tool watch, I'd really prefer the ribbed rubber, but I understand that doesn't fit this case well. So, regardless of what strap it comes with, I'll most likely put it on a black/grey striped nato/zulu, possibly the one with the thin red stripes. It would be ideal to find one with black/grey/red/yellow, but I didn't see such during a quick ebay search. Pretty sad that I'm so consumed by the strap choice when the watch itself has yet to even be fabricated.

Have a look at my custom canvas straps - these are produced by myself and not Bremont, so would have to be ordered as an extra.
http://alt1tude.bremont.com/forum/t1016/
Regarding the Rubber strap - The best thing to do is to get them to install it for you - the rubber straps do fit - but unless you get them to 'click' into the pin holes they can easily come undone, as they did to one unfortunate member here whilst he was standing at a urinal... He then proceeded to have a mini-meltdown and 'exit' the brand (!)... So I did warn you!
Congratulations aardvarkbark, this should be a very special watch. I can't wait to get mine.

News in from Bremont. The parts for the SE are due in to HQ end of June - so hopefully we'll be looking at a JULY production date. I'll inform you all of the news when I receive it. This has obviously been delayed a bit, but it doesn't sound too serious!

Delighted to say that I have recently reserved no. 24 - SS with grey strap. I happen to like things that are colour coordinated and this ticks the right boxes for me. Have also asked Piers to put on order one of his ALT1TUDE SE straps in grey with yellow stitching. Like the rest of you with these lovely watches on order I await with eager anticipation!

Hi Everyone...I actually have a question about the dial on the Alt1tude SE watch.
Is the Anthracite dial on the watch similar to that of the Alt1-C or will it be similar to the Globemaster gray dial watch?

It's been designed the same as the alt-c anthracite; Brushed vertical strokes on the grey anthracite.

Come on now chaps, don't be shy. This is your last opportunity to buy one of Britains most exclusive watches, watches that will be seen at the most prestigious events and worn on the wrists of A list celebrities. Hey, you might even see turbohobbit wearing his while conjugating latin verbs in the Savoy Grill!!

We're getting there! I enquired today re: progress.. so still waiting to hear back. I guess they're all still in codebreaker land for the mo.

I've heard there's every chance it may contain some melted down staples from Nick and Giles' stapler (an original model Rexel Meteor no less) that they had when they were at school :D
Here's some fine detail on the stapler so you can see what sort of fine mechanical history you are buying into....
This Rexel Meteor is a half strip stapler which is robust, reliable and an affordable office stapler.
It features a solid metal body with moulded plastic cap and full rubber base to protect your desk surface.
It also features a handy staple level indicator and has the ability to staple up to 15 sheets at once.
It will fit staples sizes No 56 and No 16.

Well, worn by the first 30 to pony up their payment. I think there are some solid B list celebs included who wish they were A's, maybe hoping this will be just what it takes to nudge them up the ladder.

Stapler -- the next great complication rage now that tourbillon has been put in everything. Look for stapler-gmt's with both 'power reserve' and 'staples remaining' dial indicators at Basel 2014. Finally, Britain's contribution to horology. And apple is so excited about the iwatch. ppppft.

The cost of some of these SE's has been mentioned on this forum numerous times. I understand 200 Norton's were made in 2009 /10 and some remain unsold today, I would have thought that marque aficionados would have snapped these up long since - but clearly not. The truth is that the price of these watches helps support Bremont's charitable donations, general business overheads and not inconsiderable sponsorship for events like Henley and Duxford - of course they are going to be expensive and not regarded as particularly good value by people who judge these things purely on the quality of the movement.
As for our own SE you have done a cracking job and we await definitive pictures in due course. I looked at a Codebreaker today (001!) and while it is clearly a fascinating piece with a rich history it does not chime any bells for me. I have absolutly no regrets in ordering an ATL1TUDE.COM SE
